LANCE ARMSTRONG ADMITS TO DOPING "ONE BIG LIE"

Former professional cyclist Lance Armstrong told the world Thursday evening that he used performance-enhancing drugs to win seven Tour de France titles.

The 41-year-old was accused last year by the US Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) of what it called "the most sophisticated, professionalised and successful doping programme" the sport had ever seen.

Armstrong, who has been stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, has up to now vehemently denied dope allegations. For more than a decade, Armstrong dared anybody who challenged his version of events to prove it. Finally, he told the tale himself after promising over the weekend to answer Winfrey's questions "directly, honestly and candidly."

COMMENTS!!

Now, have a look to the picture below. During the last three decades 8 different cyclists (17 titles!!) were punished and stripped  of their Tour the France titles.

What do you think about it?

  3. I think that cycling is a great sport, but many cyclists have been doped and it's bad for all sports and I think that is a mistake to say that one of the best athletes in the history has been doped although it's true, because for many people he was an idol and new sportsmen might think that doping is necessary to win.

  4. In my opinion, it's really difficult to understand why US Anti-Doping Agency hasn't found the drugs in Lance Amstrong's body. Lance Amstrong has done a terrible mistake that he will never forget in all his life. If he goes to prison, it would be fair because you never have to take drugs ,it doesn't matter the reason, you put in danger your life and your sport career. With this behaviour, he has cheated himself and all the people who followed him.

I think that a lot of cyclists have been doped because they would like to be better at this sport but when they take drugs they risk their health and their awards, so this company Anti-Doping has to watch over this cyclists before the competitions for secure the good performance of the tournaments.

  7. I think that It is a really bad new for the cycling and for sports in general, because Armstrong has played with the illusion of people and with all of children that saw in him a hero. I think that you mustn't take drugs, because it's very important to be a good sportsman without using drugs, because that is the way to be important in the sport that you love, and you will be never remembered as the sportsman that needed drugs to win, like Armstrong.

  8. i think that it is a really bad new but i don´t give significate because in this years only one or two person don´t used drugs and physically are imposible win seven tours and it isn´t the moment to talk about true, that must have been resolved in his day not today .

  9. it's a shame that many cyclists have had to resort to drugs to win trophies because it makes a cycling history is based on lies. I think that from now on, almost any cyclist won't dope because thanks to new technology, they can tell if someone has been doped or not.

  11. Well, there's no escaping the fact that plenty of athletes up until now have taken drugs to improve their skills while practicing sport. It's a pity to see how someone that started working so hard to achieve his goals in life, stupidly ended up falling into the trap of doping. And what for? To win.

Lance Armstrong made us believe that he had put all his effort to get to the top, but he was just hiding behind his own lies. Now he's gone from being a hero to a letdown. I hope he gets what he deserves, even though it's a little bit too late.

Seriously, is winning worth the risk of damaging yourself and your career? I don't think so. Success is not all about winning, it's a matter of loving what you do.

  14. Hi!

I think that cycling is a nice and healthy sport, and when somebody start to compite in the elite with professional people, the person try to trascend himself or herself every day, and it is unfair that somebody use drugs or something similar to improve his or her performance and win the tour, the giro... I don't know how he had not been caught before and didn't allow him or her to competite more. I think that if somebody has been doped, he broke the essence of the sport that is to have fun; it is very unfair to the rest of the people, and it only harm yourself.

Doping is unsporting, cyclists must win tours by themselves. Amstrong took drugs, as a consecuence, he have a lot of problems. At least he has told the truth, but he has disappointed a lot of people.

  19. I think that when someone is doped, he tries to cheat other teanmates, because if you want to win you have to train hard. Anti-doping's agency puts good punishments to the cyclists who are doped, and there are cases that have not been investigated still. They should test to the cyclists before every competition, to insure itself that they are not doped, since there will be many cyclists who do it.

I think it's okay that all these cyclists have lost their titles and trophies because they doped during the competitions, because they didn't train as hard as they must. Cycling is a difficult sport, but dopping is'nt the solution for winning competitons. Drugs al also harmful to health.

It's easy and you can do it like a hobbie or a healthy sport but you can become professional and start to compete in important competitions, such as Tour de France. Competition is good, it is in all and each sports, I think that it is a way of motivating players. Competitors want to win but sometimes the desire to win leads them to cheat, as doping. Recently, the cyclist Lance Armstrong admitted that he used performance-enhancing drugs. In my opinion, he made a great mistake but it isn't only affect him, it also affect people who believed in him.

Of course, Lance Armstrong made a terrible mistake when he doped himself, but I also think that USADA should'n research Lance Armstrong after so many years. In my own opinion, it doesn,t improve what people think about cycling.
Finally, I'd like to say that people only see the bad part of cycling, they don't see when a cyclist finishes a race after fall of the bike or when they help a mate to win a race. Things like this are the reason that I still believe in cycling.
