CONTADOR BANNED FOR TWO YEARS FOR DOPING

Alberto Contador was stripped of his 2010 Tour de France title Monday and banned for two years after sports' highest court found the Spanish cyclist guilty of doping.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended the three-time Tour champion after rejecting his claim that his positive test for clenbuterol was caused by eating contaminated meat on a 2010 Tour rest day.
CAS backdated Contador's ban, and he is eligible to return to competition on Aug. 6. The ban means Contador will miss the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the London Olympics, but he would be eligible to ride in the Spanish Vuelta, which begins Aug. 18.
WADA President John Fahey described the court's judgment as ''an appropriate decision ... which represents the effective nature of the World Anti-Doping Code.''
Contador blamed steak bought from a Basque producer for his high reading of clenbuterol, which is sometimes used by farmers to fatten their livestock. To avoid a doping ban, he needed to prove how the anabolic drug entered his body and convince the panel he was not to blame.
Contador is one of only five cyclists to win the three Grand Tours - the Tour, the Giro and the Vuelta. He also won the Tour de France in 2007 and 2009.

  1. I think it is an a unfair decision. doping should be totally banned, but in this case it is totally exagerated because the only thing he did was eating a contaminated steak. As a matter of that the French people have strated a campaign against spanish sport which is totally unfair. WE SUPPORT CONTADOR!

  3. I think that the decision is very exagerated, because there aren't sufficient evinces.

  4. I think the decision is unfair because the levels of clenbuterol found were very small, and not wanting eat a steak.
Even one of his rivals said "This is a sad day for our sport. Some may think of it as a victory, But That Is not at all the case. There are no winners when it comes to the issue of doping. "
We all should to support Contador, he is a good rider!

  6. I think that the decision of the TAS isn't good. Alberto Contador has never dopped himself. The meat that he ate didn't have enough clembuterol for dopping him, so the TAS never had to sanction Alberto. Now, he can't go to the OLYMPIC GAMES, it't very unfair, and bad to the country too.

  7. I think it's unfair, if he claims it was because of the contaminated meat do a study and see if the meat is contaminated, he is one of the best and now want to exclude when he's had a good roll, sure if it would have been another investigated better.

  8. I think that Alberto Contador is not guilty because clembuterol portion is very small and also I think that he didn't do it wanting. This notice has created much controversy and the French have done some ads over all Spanish sport. This has prejudiced much Spain.

  9. I think that Alberto Contador isn´t guilty, he is innocent. The decision taken is too exaggerated. Should do more testing on it, there is a difference between being accused him of doping and that he was taken contaminated meat. If it is a fail that could cause him the loss some title.

  10. I think that he is innocent because it gave too low an amount in the test performed. In addition, nobody knows if it is really guilty, and the TAS even nor has given a good reason of because they have sanctioned it. Anyway, Contador is a great sportsman and a great person, and I don't believe that he is cheat in the sport that he loves, the cycling. Even so, his sanction was a very bad new for our country, but he will rise and with work and dedication he will return to cycling.

  11. I think that Contador is innocent and the decision of the TAS isn´t good because the amount of clenbuterol found of the meat is very very small and anyone can doping with this amount of clenbuterol. Alberto Contador is a honest person and he never doping to win the Tour.

  12. Hi everyone!!
I think that Contador is innocent because he ate a stake that was bad, the scientist that found the dopping sustance said that the bad sustance called clenbuterol was 0,00000000005 grams of milliter, it is very insignificant. I think that the TAS doesn't remove him the ``Giro´´ and the``Tour of France´´.
I am with Patricia. WE SUPPORT CONTADOR!!!
But I think that tha TAS doesn't remove him the penalization.

  15. I think that Alberto Contador is innocent, the level of clenbuterol that they found him in the blood was very low. It isn't just that were taking from him the Tour of France and the Giro of Italy. It isn't also just that they were sanctioning until August 6

  19. Hi antonio, sorry for the delay.
I don´t konw if contador is innocent or not but I think that banned two years is to much two things:
-first:in the hypotetical case that contador was guilty it is to much punishment.
-sencond:The french people want that contador lost capacity for the cycling, but if i was contador i will became better

  20. I think it is much punishment for a very small amount of clembuterol.
Alberto Contador is a great sportman.

  21. I think that contador is a good person and a good sportman, I don´t know that he is inocent but a person who win so i don´t think that he would risk.
And finally it´s probably that the french people has jealous of the spanish sportmans and sportwomans because they win all.

  22. I don't know why the french people cry so much. The sportsmen here are not doped and less Contador that is great person and he is innocent.

  23. I think that it is not fair the fact that he was punished because they didn't investigate the case in depth. It wasn't his fault, he didn't know that he was eating contaminated meat. So, I think that he should be given other chance.
